builders' dust needs a different kind of clean
Fine plaster dust resettles for weeks. Here's how professional after-builders cleaning actually deals with it.

Every renovation ends the same way: the trades leave, you wipe the surfaces, and the next morning everything is grey again. That is not a cleaning failure. It is physics.
Why the dust keeps coming back
Plaster and cement dust is extremely fine. It stays airborne for days, settles on every horizontal surface, and is stirred up again by footsteps, radiators and open windows. A single wipe removes the layer you can see and leaves the rest circulating.
How a professional after-builders clean is different
- Top-down passes. We start at the ceiling roses and light fittings and work down, so nothing settles on a surface already cleaned.
- HEPA extraction. Domestic vacuums blow fine dust straight back out. HEPA filtration captures it.
- Multiple passes over hours. The first pass clears the bulk, later passes catch what has settled since.
- The hiding places. Architrave tops, radiator fins, socket faces, extractor grilles, window tracks and the top edge of every door.
- Spot removal. Plaster, cement, paint and adhesive lifted from glass, tiles, floors and sanitaryware.
When to book
After every trade has finished, including snagging. Any further work re-dusts what we have cleaned. Most projects need one visit; on heavy plaster or floor-sanding jobs a lighter second pass a couple of days later is sometimes worth it, and we will say so upfront.
Clear the waste in the same visit
Nearly every job leaves offcuts, packaging and old fittings behind. As a registered waste carrier we can clear them alongside the clean, which saves a skip permit and a second call-out. See after builders cleaning and rubbish removal, or current bundle offers.
